A teenager was shot and killed near Sunrise Elementary School on Sunday afternoon, authorities said. 

Police responded to reports of a shooting at around 3:10 p.m. near the intersection of East 7th Street and Euclid Avenue, according to a spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). 

Responding officers found the victim, described only as a male hispanic, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesperson said.

According to NBC Los Angeles, the family of the victim identified him as a 17-year-old.

The alleged shooter was last seen in a black or blue Honda Accord traveling eastbound on 7th Street, police said. No additional information on the victim or suspect was made available.

The incident is believed to be gang-related, the spokesperson said.
