Los Angeles police are requesting the public’s help in identifying a hit-and-run driver responsible for injuring a pedestrian in Boyle Heights. 

The victim, identified only as a 49-year-old male, was crossing 1st Street west of Fresno Street on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at around 8:50 p.m. when he was struck by a silver Honda Odyssey traveling west on 1st Street. The Honda failed to stop, render aid or identify themselves, police said.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he has remained in critical condition for weeks. 

Detectives released surveillance footage in hopes that someone with information on the case will come forward.  

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction of the suspect. Those with information are encouraged to contact Central Traffic investigator David Chung by calling (213) 486-0760 or emailing 34458@lapd.online.

The Eastside is a hot spot for traffic collisions resulting in injury. According to a report by The Eastsider, Boyle Heights ranked 11 out of the city’s 114 neighborhoods for most severe injuries from collisions in 2024 with 30 cases. Downtown L.A. came in first with a total of 81.
