From late-night shows and workshops to community gatherings and a Memorial Day commemoration, I’m sure there’s something for you to get out and about!

Thursday, May 22

  • Family Ceramics: Stevenson Library is hosting a bilingual, family-friendly ceramics workshop. Create a clay milagro charm during the 1.5-hour session. 4 p.m.
  • Community Cycling: Join Esquina Bicycle Shop for “Critical Masa.” Meet at the shop at 5:30 p.m., then enjoy a 10-mile round trip and food by Almaya. 
  • Rap Night: The Paramount is hosting Pigeon John with special guest AWOL One for a night of hip-hop and rap. $23 tickets. Doors for the all-ages show open 7 p.m.

Friday, May 23

  • Alt Night: The alt-electric group Anything Box is playing a set at The Paramount with support by the band BlakLight. $35-65 tickets. 18+. Doors open 8 p.m.
  • Tropical Beats: Tropisónico is back at First Street Pool & Billiard. Enjoy beats by Alberto Sol and I Dig Rhythm. Free entry. 21+. Doors open 8 p.m.

Saturday, May 24

  • DIY Y2K: Grab a tote or baby tee from Earthy Corazon (or bring your own) and customize it at a Y2K-inspired design station. 12 to 4 p.m.
  • Pancakes & Art: The “Pancakes & Booze” art show is coming to Don Quixote, featuring hundreds of local artists, live painting, DJs, drinks and you guessed it: all-you-can-eat pancakes. Tickets for the 21+ event are available for $20. 8 p.m.
  • Rock Cabaret: The groups Shock Therapy and Spunk are bringing a rock twist to cabaret night at Eastside Luv. $10 entry at the door. 21+ show. 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Rock Night: La Castañeda, a Mexican rock group formed in 1989, is hitting the stage at The Paramount. $45 tickets. Doors for the 21+ show open 8 p.m.

Sunday, May 25

  • Sidewalk Market: It’s time for Tianguis Dominguero, a celebration of local businesses on 1st Street between State and Vicente Fernandez streets. Support restaurants and vendors along the corridor, and connect with community members. 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Brunch & Jams: Oyé Hector and DJ Mariquita are bringing soul, funk and more beats to Distrito Catorce. Enjoy a delicious brunch while jamming out from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Story Hour: Got kids? Bring them to Libros Schmibros for children’s story hour. Enjoy bilingual tales, activities and free books. 11 a.m. to noon.
  • Clothing Swap: Bring your pre-loved clothing to swap with for new fits at Esquina Bicycle Shop. 1 to 4 p.m. 

Monday, May 26

  • Memorial Day: Veterans, elected officials and community members will gather at Cinco Puntos for the area’s 78th Annual Memorial Day commemoration. 10 to 11 a.m.
  • Disco Ball: Don Quixote is hosting a celebration for the Brandy’s Disco Ball 15-year anniversary. Enjoy disco music, themed vendors, games and more entertainment throughout the night. $25-50 tickets. Doors open 7 p.m.
