Leezel Tanglao, Head of Audience & Membership (she/her)

My background: I was born and raised in the South Bay of LA (specifically Carson) and am a proud LMU and UCLA alum. I’ve been a journalist for more than 20 years working in three of the top 5 media markets – Los Angeles, New York and Dallas – with roles at CNN, The Associated Press, Vice News, The Points Guy to most recently The Dallas Morning News. I’m also the cofounder of Tayo, a data innovation hub that provides vital, trustworthy and culturally relevant info for Filipinos in the diaspora.

What I do: I oversee growing our audiences across all our platforms via our website, newsletter and social media and engage with our communities through programs like membership to connect with the Los Angeles neighborhoods we cover.

Why LA: LA is home. This is where I started my career – at Press-Enterprise in the Inland Empire and CBS Los Angeles/KCAL News in Studio City. No matter where I travel to, this is where my story began.

The best way to contact me: My email is leezel@thelalocal.org.
