Join Boyle Heights Beat at the Lineage Fire Community Organizing Conference

Join East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, community partners, and Boyle Heights Beat for the Lineage Fire Community Organizing Conference, a day dedicated to understanding the disaster’s impacts, sharing community knowledge and exploring strategies for accountability and recovery.

Through community leadership workshops, water and air sampling activities, intergenerational learning and community dialogue, attendees will have opportunities to connect, learn about ongoing efforts and help shape what comes next.

How communities create the media they need

Boyle Heights Beat will participate in a panel conversation about how community members are creating and shaping media to keep their neighbors informed. From social media to youth-led print resources to local journalism, the conversation will highlight how community-driven media helps fill information gaps, connects residents with resources and makes community voices heard.

Join us for “Who Gets to Tell the Story? How Communities Create the Media They Need,” featuring:

• Moderator: Jessica Perez, Senior Editor at Boyle Heights Beat
• Panelists:
  • Victoria Berdin, Protect LA Now
  • Youth representatives, Youth in Action!, EYCEJ
  • Alejandra Molina, Senior Reporter at Boyle Heights Beat

Share your story with Boyle Heights Beat

Boyle Heights Beat will also be creating space for community members to share their experiences through on-camera testimonios. Attendees will have an opportunity to reflect on how the Lineage fire has affected them, share their concerns and document their experiences in their own words.

These testimonios will contribute to our ongoing community storytelling and reporting about the Lineage fire, helping preserve residents’ experiences as part of the broader story of its impact and aftermath.
