A man is dead following a shooting in Boyle Heights Tuesday night, police said. 

The victim, described only as a 37-year-old male Hispanic, was standing on the 200 block of N. Matthews Street at around 11 p.m. when a group of four to five males armed with handguns approached and fired multiple rounds, striking him, according to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department.

The suspects then fled the location. 

Los Angeles Fire Department personnel declared the victim dead at the scene. 

No additional information on the suspects or victim was available at the time of this report. The incident is believed to be gang-related, police said.
