The Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council announced Tuesday that it will readdress all topics discussed at its January 23, 2013 General Board meeting, including the motion to approve the redevelopment project of the Wyvernwood Garden Apartments.
Last month’s meeting, where the board voted 9-3 in support of the redevelopment, was relocated from its scheduled location at the Boyle Heights Senior Center to the nearby Nichiren Shu Buddhist Temple because the Senior Center was locked.
According to the council’s website, “the emergency location change did not fulfill appropriate 24-hour notice of location change,” and therefore all items from that meeting will be annulled.
This will give the neighborhood council another chance to make a recommendation to the city council on the controversial future of Wyvernwood.
Opponents have been actively pushing petitions to stop the New Wyvernwood through social media, personal videos and most recently created a short video in response to how the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council handled the January meeting and vote. Last Sunday, a large crowd gathered at the complex for a community block party with the slogan “Somos Wyvernwood” organized against the redevelopment.
The Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council General Board meeting will take place at 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 27, 2013 at the Boyle Heights Senior Citizens Center, 2839 E. 3rd St. Los Angeles, Ca 90033.
The meeting’s agenda will be posted at least 72-hours prior to the meeting as per the Brown Act, according to BHNC.net.
