Authorities are investigating two fatal shootings that took place in East L.A. Friday night, just minutes apart and less than a mile from each other.  

Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a shooting at 10:07 p.m. on the 4000 block of E Cesar Chavez Avenue, according to an advisory from the department. 

The victim, identified only as an adult man, was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Soon after, deputies and L.A. County Fire Department personnel responded to another report of a shooting only blocks away on the 4000 block of Blanchard Street at 10:19 p.m.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an LASD advisory. 

The victims’ names and ages are not yet known, and it is unclear if the two incidents are connected. Identifying information on possible suspects is also unknown.
