Dilan Askew, Student Journalism Mentor

My background: As the program coordinator at Koreatown Youth and Community Center’s Koreatown Storytelling Program, I train youth to conduct community oral history interviews. I work with Koreatown community members to publish and archive interviews on topics ranging from the history of Koreatown to its vibrant food industry to substance use recovery.

What I do: I help run the K-Town youth cohort and mentor students as they learn journalistic practices and write their first published article. When we aren’t reporting, I organize free intergenerational arts and culture workshops for the K-Town community!

Why LA:  I love K-Town, am I die hard Eagle Rock resident, and never have to suffer from seasonal depression!

The best way to contact me: My email is daskew@kyccla.org
