Kayhan Azadi, Chief Development Officer (he/him)

My background: I’ve spent more than 15 years fundraising in Los Angeles, advancing equity across the region in higher education, youth opportunity, and support for Angelenos experiencing homelessness. My approach is people-centered and data-informed, rooted in community interdependence and meaningful giving as a force for change. As a Cal Poly Pomona graduate and longtime organizer, I’ve seen how reliable, trusted local news can deepen solidarity and connection across LA.

What I do: I lead The LA Local’s fundraising strategy and philanthropic partnerships. Most of my time is spent building a sustainable culture of giving, developing relationships with supporters, and growing the resources that power our journalism and community programs.

Why LA: Because LA is a living, breathing collaboration. Its art, music, and cultures constantly interact and evolve into something new, unexpected, and beautiful—and they remind me how interdependent we are. This city shows every day that connection and creativity can build real solidarity.

The best way to contact me: My email is kayhan@thelalocal.org.
