Kris Kelley, Managing Director, Engagement & Student Journalism (she/her)
My background: I started my career in broadcast journalism in Los Angeles after earning a Master’s degree from University of Southern California. I spent the last 15 years at Boyle Heights Beat, most recently as the Executive Director.
What I do: I head the high school journalism program and community engagement for The LA Local and oversee student editorial programming in each of our communities- currently Boyle Heights, Koreatown, and Inglewood/South LA. I’m also an adjunct professor at USC Annenberg where I teach journalism.
Why LA: There’s no other place like it- the weather, the topography, the people and the rich diversity of all of its neighborhoods.
The best way to contact me: My email is kris@thelalocal.org.
