Michele Siqueiros, Chief Executive Officer (she/her/ella)
My background: I’m a born-and-raised Angeleno and daughter of immigrants who has spent over 20 years creating transformational change across California. My leadership has secured over $6 billion in state funding for higher education and shaped major policy wins that opened doors for millions of students to attend and complete college. I’m in this role because I believe people deserve trusted news and information that gives them power to hold leaders accountable, see themselves in the journalists who cover them, and connect to their communities. I serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees at Pitzer College and on the boards of The California Endowment, Community Coalition and Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles County.
What I do: I’m responsible for The LA Local’s vision, strategy, and growth. I spend most of my time leading our world-class team, raising the resources we need, and building the partnerships that expand our reach and deepen our impact.
Why LA: Because the entire world is here. Our diversity—in people, languages, food, neighborhoods—is our superpower. Where else can you hike in the mountains in the morning, hit the beach in the afternoon, catch a Dodgers game at night, and choose from the best tacos, Korean BBQ, or Ethiopian food on the planet? I know traffic, but LA is proof that different communities can thrive together, and that’s worth fighting for.
The best way to contact me: My email is michele@thelalocal.org.
