Patty Viramontes, Student Journalism Manager
My background: I am originally from Inglewood and have worked with youth across Los Angeles as a classroom teacher and education program manager. I hold a Master of Education and a BA in History and Political Science from UCLA.
What I do: I design and lead youth-centered programming, mentor student journalists, and support young people in telling stories about their communities. My work is grounded in a commitment to LA youth and to building learning spaces that reflect and honor their lived experiences.
Why LA: Raised in Inglewood, with ties to the South Bay, Westside, and Eastside, Los Angeles has always been my home. From sunsets at the beach to afternoons spent visiting museums with friends, the city’s people, neighborhoods, food, and cultural spaces continue to shape how I learn, teach, and build community.
