Black on the Block, the traveling marketplace that showcases Black-owned businesses, is back in LA where it all began five years ago.
The touring marketplace is hosting its fifth anniversary and Juneteenth celebration on Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at Los Angeles Center Studios.
This year’s event will feature vendors from South LA, Inglewood, and surrounding communities, representing more than 100 brands including Sixteenth Studio, Backyard Jerk, Red’s Smokin Barbecue and more, according to a statement event organizers sent to The LA Local.
R&B singer Jacquees is also scheduled to perform live at the LA celebration on Saturday.
Founded in LA by sister duo Lanie and Char Edwards, the marketplace began as a local response to a lack of visibility and economic opportunity for Black-owned businesses in LA and the surrounding areas.
Thousands of people attend Black on the Block each month, which has also held events in Dallas, Houston, Washington D.C., Chicago, Charlotte and Atlanta, according to the event’s website.
In an emailed statement, the founders said the marketplace helped drive more than $4 million to Black entrepreneurs in 2025 alone.
