Steve Saldivar
My background: Born and raised in East LA, Steve previously worked at the Los Angeles Times as a video journalist, covering the impact of COVID on Latino communities and how Angelenos commemorate the Zoot Suit Riots. Before that, he was The Getty’s social media coordinator. A UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism alum; Steve brings deep roots and creativity to our newsroom.
What I do: I help shape the visual identity of The LA Local across all our platforms.
Why LA: I was born in East LA to immigrant parents. Seeing reporting that accurately reflect our community drives me to document our stories, particularly those that show our tradition and culture.
