The Election Beat Survey and Listening Posts

Ahead of the November election, Boyle Heights Beat is conducting outreach and setting up listening posts to hear from residents across Council District 14. Come fill out The Election Beat survey and tell us what you want your candidates to talk about as they compete for your votes. Catch us at farmers markets, neighborhood council meetings and other local community events.

CD14 Candidate Forum – Wednesday, Oct. 9

Come meet the candidates running to represent L.A. City Council District 14 before you vote in November. Moderated by Proyecto Pastoral and Boyle Heights Beat youth reporters, this forum will give residents a chance to ask Ysabel Jurado and Kevin de León questions about how they plan to address your community’s biggest concerns. Light refreshments, childcare and translation will be provided.

Will the real young voters please stand up? – Tuesday, Oct. 22

A panel of civically engaged Gen Zers and young millennials from across the political spectrum visit Zócalo to stand up and speak for themselves. Voter engagement activities hosted by Cal State LA’s Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs will be available before and after the conversation. This is a Zócalo Public Square program co-presented with LAist 89.3, Los Angeles Local News Initiative, Boyle Heights Beat, and CalMatters, with generous support from The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation.
