A 14-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday in connection with the stabbing of another teen at an immigration protest in downtown L.A. last week.

The suspect was apprehended in the Rampart area just west of downtown and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

The incident took place after a fight broke out at Gloria Molina Grand Park near City Hall around 1:30 p.m. last Friday, police said.

A large group of demonstrators, mostly students, had gathered there on the fourth day of student walkouts and amid a series of other demonstrations throughout Los Angeles.

The victim, which police later identified as a 17-year-old male, was transported to a hospital and was reported to be in critical condition. LAPD Officer J. Chavez said there were no updates on the victim’s condition as of Thursday afternoon.

Students have been using social media to connect and share details of planned walkouts as they denounced Trump’s aggressive immigration policies.

In the latest demonstrations, students from various Eastside schools walked out of class on Tuesday, rallying at City Hall and then at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights.
