Eastside students walk out on 1st Street

Students from schools across the Eastside participated in a day of protest by walking out of class and marching toward L.A. City Hall in support of immigrant rights on Tuesday.

In East Los Angeles, students at Garfield High walked out at around 10 a.m., marching down Whittier Boulevard with Mexican flags, signs and even banners reading “lucha contra Trump.”

Other schools joined shortly after, including students at Oscar De La Hoya, Esteban E. Torres, Bravo Medical and Roosevelt high schools.

Students began arriving at City Hall shortly before noon.
