Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck several cyclists in Boyle Heights last week.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 25 while a group of cyclists were on the 600 block of S. Lorena Street, according to an LAPD spokesperson.

According to a KTLA 5 report, around a dozen cyclists were in the area handing out red cards to residents. Also known as “Know Your Rights” cards, these tools share information on how locals can assert their rights and defend themselves when encountering federal immigration agents.

The suspect’s vehicle, described as a black four-door KIA sedan, struck a few of the riders, the LAPD spokesperson said. The vehicle then failed to stop, render aid or identify themselves as the law requires.

“One minute I’m on my bike, and the next minute, I’m on the pavement,” said one anonymous victim to KTLA 5. The victim told the news station that at least four riders were hit during the incident, and at least one person suffered a head injury.

Police did not share any details of injuries sustained during the incident.

Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call 1-800-222-8477 or submit information at lacrimestoppers.org.
