A non profit organization committed to empowering fathers to engage in the lives of their children in creative ways will be hosting an event in Boyle Heights promoting reading and writing.

The D.A.D. Project will host a “Superhero Literacy Day” on Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Boyle Heights City Hall located at 2130 E. 1st Street, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. All men are invited to bring their children to the free event. Dads can register online at dadproject.eventbrite.com.

D.A.D. Project provides similar programs specifically to encourage father and male engagement support, with school readiness goals, throughout Los Angeles County. The project hopes to change the culture for men and youth throughout their communities.

The organization recently collaborated with PBS Kids to bring families together to learn about science, technology, engineering, art, and math through rocket building. The event “STEAM Into Action” was held on July 28th at Boyle Heights City Hall and had over three dozen in attendance. The group plans to hold additional events in Boyle Heights in the future.
