Last week, Eugene A. Obregon Park unveiled a new after-school teen center in East Los Angeles.
Known as “Our SPOT,” the County Parks and Recreation hub is one of four on the Eastside providing a supportive space with fun activities for youth ages 12 to 18. These centers are open to teens Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. all year long.
“Obregon Park has long been a cornerstone for the East L.A. community, and with the opening of the Our SPOT Teen Center, we are offering our youth a place of opportunity where teens can explore their talents, engage in creative and educational activities, and build valuable leadership skills,” said County Supervisor Hilda Solis, who oversees unincorporated East L.A.
Free after-school activities provided at these spots include a variety of workshops, fitness classes, resource connection and general advice on how to navigate the school year.

“Our SPOT” centers were made possible by a partnership with the Los Angeles County Probation Department that provided over $600,000 in funding for renovations at existing facilities at county parks.
