In an effort to support residents in areas affected by air pollution from recent wildfires, all Los Angeles Public Library branches are giving away N95 masks while supplies last.

That includes the following three locations in Boyle Heights:

  • Benjamin Franklin Temporary Library
    • 2200 E. 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033
  • Robert Louis Stevenson Library
    • 803 Spence Street, Los Angeles, CA 90023
  • Malabar Library
    • 2801 Wabash Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90033

Hours and locations can be found at lapl.org/branches. Please note that branches will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Computers, WiFi and, of course, books, can be found at all locations.

Reading is an effective way for some to take care of their mental health, a topic of concern for many dealing with distress from the fires.

LAPL also has a list of emergency information and resources, including links to where you can find updates from local and state agencies, emergency maps, incident data, resources, aid and more available at https://lapl.org/be-ready.

Some L.A. County Library branches are also offering free N95 masks. Find the latest information at https://lacountylibrary.org/.
