Boyle Heights is one of four locations now offering resource centers to support individuals who lost income in the January wildfires.
The Impacted Worker and Family Recovery Centers provide job placement, financial assistance, small business grants and other services to those affected by the fires, Mayor Karen Bass announced on Tuesday.
“The workers, small business owners and families who lost their livelihoods in the recent fires live all across our city and region,” Bass said in a statement.
“The fires destroyed the workplaces of thousands of gardeners, restaurant workers, house cleaners, childcare workers and more. As we rebuild our neighborhoods, we are also going to do everything we can to make sure every family who was impacted can rebuild their lives.”
Located inside the Boyle Heights Family Source Center – El Centro de Ayuda, individuals can access a wide range of services, including rental assistance, tax filing help, and referrals for immigration services. The organization also provides educational resources, mental health support and information about after-school programs.
The centers are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the following locations:
- Boyle Heights: 2130 1st St., Los Angeles, 90033
- West LA: 5446 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230
- Northeast San Fernando Valley: 13356 Eldridge Ave., Sylmar, CA 91342
- West Adams/Leimert Park: 4305 Degnan Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90008
The Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles will staff the centers with case workers who will provide personalized assistance and help survivors navigate the Relief Navigator tool. This online resource connects individuals with government programs, insurance assistance, home damage remediation, and other critical services.
