Inglewood locals may have noticed a number of construction projects underway at city parks, from a baseball field remodel at Rogers Park to freshly painted pickleball courts at Darby Park.
It’s all part of a packed pipeline of projects covering almost every one of the city’s parks.
Mayor James Butts said the projects are part of a years-long effort.
“When I took office the parks in Inglewood had systemic deferred maintenance issues,” Butts wrote in an email to The LA Local. “There is a broader vision and long-term commitment to investing in and revitalizing Inglewood’s parks and recreational facilities.”

Darby Park pickleball courts
- Darby Park’s old tennis courts have been remodeled as a cluster of eight pickleball courts that will host a grand opening on Sept. 12.
- The city expects to open a new restroom facility at Darby Park soon, though the city did not specify an exact date.
Vincent Park flood management, playgrounds and swimming pool
- Three play structures are under construction near the corner of Park Avenue and Stepney Place. They are scheduled to open to public use within the next couple months, though the city has not set an exact date. The city said the project has had unforeseen delays but that work has begun on the final phase.
- The city is starting major renovations centered around flood management and storm water filtration. Construction is expected to wrap in October 2027. Details are available on the city’s website.
- The city broke ground last month for a “Dodgers Dreamfield” remodel of the Vincent Park baseball fields.
- The pools at Vincent Park will get a major renovation starting in February.
Rogers Park baseball fields
- The Inglewood Little League will play games at Darby Park this fall while the city renovates the fields at Rogers Park. The city is targeting a reopening by the beginning of the spring Little League season.
Center Park expansion
- The city is purchasing the shuttered Worthington Elementary School site from the Inglewood Unified School District and plans to use the campus for an expansion of Center Park. Planning and design for the expansion will start in the near future, though the city has not set an exact date.
North Park, Queen Park and Siminski Park additions
- The city plans to build a new gazebo and walking path at North Park.
- Queen Park will also get a new gazebo and walking path and renovations to restrooms, starting in October.
- The city has started construction on a new community garden at Siminski Park, but did not specify an opening date.
