The June 2 primary election is coming up quickly. Ballots for the primary are already arriving by mail, and ballot drop boxes are open.
South LA voters will get to cast ballots for races including LA City Council District 9 and State Assembly District 57. Here’s what to know about how and where to cast your ballot.
Need to register?
The last day to register or update your registration address is May 18. Same-day registration is also available in person at county election offices and vote centers, or you can register at lavote.gov.
Voting by mail?
You can mail off your ballot as soon as possible. The Secretary of State’s Office recommends voters who want to mail their ballots do so at least a week before the June 2 election day.

Most ballot drop boxes are open 24 hours a day until they close at 8 p.m. on June 2.

Where to vote in person in South LA
Vote centers are one-stop sites where you can vote, register to vote or get a replacement ballot. Dates of operation will vary depending on the location.
Most voting centers will open starting May 30 from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. On June 2, Election Day, the centers will be open from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Check online for a map of centers and for specific details.
