A 97-year-old woman with dementia who had been missing from Westlake since Sunday has been found at USC Medical Center, her family said Thursday.
The family said in an Instagram story that a tip received Wednesday night led them to paramedics and the Los Angeles Fire Department, who had been helping Chung since Sunday. They were then able to locate and identify her at the hospital.
“It’s the best case scenario,” the family wrote.
The family thanked everyone who shared their posts, saying they were overwhelmed by how widely the information was amplified.
“Thank you so much, especially to the Westlake, Ktown, and DTLA communities,” they wrote.
A California Highway Patrol spokesperson said Thursday that the Silver Alert has been removed.

The family of a 97-year-old woman with dementia is still searching for her days after she disappeared from the Westlake area, saying they have zero leads and are asking residents to keep looking.
“Grandma is still missing,” the family wrote in an Instagram story Wednesday. “It has been over 72 hours. We have zero leads.”
Chin Chung was last seen around midnight on Sunday near the 200 block of South Westlake Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Authorities issued a Silver Alert and said Chung was believed to be on foot.
Chung is Korean, about 5 feet tall and 110 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes, according to the LAPD. She was last known to be wearing a pink long-sleeved shirt, dark pajama pants with a flower print and no shoes.
In an Instagram post, the family said Chung speaks Korean, has dementia and walks with a bend in her back. They said she may be barefoot and disheveled after being outside in the rain for more than 24 hours.
The family’s social media posts urge anyone who sees Chung in Westlake, Koreatown or the downtown Los Angeles area to stop and try to help her or contact police. They said she does not have any identification.
An LAPD spokesperson said Wednesday that the search remains ongoing and that there is no new information. If Chung is found, the LAPD will notify the California Highway Patrol, which will then remove the Silver Alert, the spokesperson said.
