One person was left wounded after shots were fired at a car on the 710 Freeway in East L.A. early Wednesday morning.
The incident was reported to the California Highway Patrol officers at about 12:12 a.m. at the interchange between the southbound 710 Freeway and southbound 5 Freeway, where someone in another vehicle shot at a Toyota Prius, according to City News Service. One of the occupants was wounded, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.
Footage from NBC 4 showed at least three bullet holes in the Prius. The driver of the Prius was able to drive to a local hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries, NBC 4 reported.
The CHP issued a SigAlert that closed all lanes of the southbound 710 for several hours while officers searched for shell casings and further evidence. The lanes have since been reopened.
A shooter description, motive and description of the vehicle were not immediately known.
According to City News Service, authorities say the incident could be a case of road rage and an investigation is ongoing.
