A body was discovered at a vacant home that caught fire early Wednesday morning.

Fire crews responded to the 100 block of N. Matthews Street in Boyle Heights at around 1:20 a.m. and found a boarded-up, one-story home in flames, according to an alert by the Los Angeles Fire Department.  

It took 34 firefighters 23 minutes to extinguish the fire, the alert said.

After the fire was extinguished, a body was found in the home. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No additional details on the victim or fire were available at the time of this report. LAFD’s arson personnel are handling the investigation.
