N Myers Street

A Wednesday afternoon traffic stop in Boyle Heights took a quick turn ending with a fleeing passenger being shot.

According to a police statement, the officers stopped the driver at around 4:50 PM on the 150 block of North Myers Street. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit after a male passenger ran from the vehicle during the traffic stop.

The man was shot by an officer and was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition. The female driver of the vehicle was found near the 101 Freeway and North Mission Street and was taken into custody by police.

According to the LAPD, no officers were injured during the incident and a handgun was recovered from the scene. No further details are currently available.
