Los Angeles police are investigating a shooting in Boyle Heights that left three teenagers injured and drew a large police presence Monday afternoon.

Authorities responded around 3:50 p.m. to reports of a multi-victim shooting on the 400 block of Soto Street near Folsom Street and found three victims, according to LAFD spokesperson Brian Humphrey.

The victims, a 15-year-old, a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old, were found suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, according to an LAPD Officer Miller. They were transported to nearby hospitals in unknown condition, he added.

A suspected shooter was later identified as a heavyset male wearing a tie-dye sweatshirt and blue pants driving a gray BMW sedan. They were last seen traveling northbound on Soto Street, Miller said.

The shooting prompted a large police response and snarled traffic during the afternoon commute. Several blocks of Soto Street were temporarily closed off by police north of Cesar Chavez Avenue. An investigation into the case remains ongoing.
