A fire at the site of a former burger restaurant in Boyle Heights Sunday left the vacant property charred – adding to the blight the spot has brought on for neighbors for years.
According to a report by the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire at 320 S. Soto Street started at 10:32 a.m. It took 35 firefighters 13 minutes to extinguish the flames at the 1,450-square-foot, one-story building.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was still under investigation Monday.
The fire is the latest in a string of incidents that have been reported at the property, which sits at the intersection of 4th Street and Soto Boulevard. Over the past decade, the building has seen several break-ins and homeless encampments, illegal dumping, graffiti and additional blazes.
