Juneteenth is Friday and recognized as the nation’s second Independence Day that is mainly celebrated within the Black community, according to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Inglewood Juneteenth events
- Skating: Sunshine Skate Center is hosting a Juneteenth Skate Day and Night on Friday at 1130 S. Prairie Ave. Daytime admission (12 to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.) is $5 and adult nighttime admission (7:30 to 10:30 p.m.) is $8 per person. Admission does not include rental skates.
- Art show: Stonehaven Studios will host the second annual Afrofuturist Art Fair on Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. at Willie Agee Playhouse at 714 Warren Lane in celebration of Juneteenth. The event is free and registration is encouraged.
South LA Juneteenth events
- Scavenger hunt: The California African American Museum (CAAM) will host a Juneteenth Scavenger Hunt on Friday at 600 State Drive in Exposition Park from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants will follow prompts through the galleries. RSVP is encouraged.
- Leimert Park Village: The annual Juneteenth Celebration in Leimert Park, known as the Black cultural center of LA, will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Juneteenth Biking Event: A bike ride event called “Juneteenth Freedom Ride” hosted by Black Folk, an event planning organization, will take place on Friday. Riders will meet and start at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza at 8 a.m. and end at the Juneteenth celebration in Leimert Park at 12 p.m. There are three planned routes: a 9-mile ride for beginners, 14-mile ride for intermediates and a 19-mile ride for experienced riders.
- BBQ Bash: Music artist promoters The Rehearsal is hosting a Juneteenth BBQ Bash from 3 to 8 p.m. The event will include live performances, a DJ, custom merch, food and drinks — all at a location that is only revealed only after you grab your ticket.
