The University of Missouri announced Monday that Inglewood’s Jason Crowe Jr. was selected for Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year Watch List.
The announcement comes the day before Crowe is scheduled to make his college basketball debut for the Missouri Tigers on Tuesday at home against Cleveland State.
Crowe is one of just five freshmen in the country selected to the watch list and is among 50 players overall to earn the preseason recognition, according to the school’s website. He was also named to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List, which honors the country’s top point guard, according to Missouri’s website.
Crowe played for Inglewood High School and currently holds California’s all-time scoring record with 4,718 career points. He was also selected as co-MVP at this year’s McDonald’s All-American Game.
His father, Jason Crowe Sr., is also at Missouri working as an assistant basketball coach, according to the school’s website. He coached his son at Inglewood High for the last two years and played professional basketball overseas for 13 years.
