On this Juneteenth, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women’s Los Angeles Chapter will host its first-ever Juneteenth golf tournament fundraiser. Seasoned golfers and first-timers will play side by side at Topgolf El Segundo, swinging for a good cause.

NCBW LA, an advocacy organization for Black women, was founded 40 years ago and will use the tournament to launch the next era of its work. The kickoff will highlight advocacy, connection and support.

The tournament will also serve as a  primary fundraiser for the year ahead. Money raised will go toward signature programs and community initiatives, including those that support the next generation of Black female leaders.

Kimberly Watson, president of the NCBW LA, said she is committed to the health and advancement of young Black women.

“Forty years ago, a bold group of women in Los Angeles set out to build an advocacy coalition for Black women and girls. Four decades later, that work — and the deep bonds among the members who carry it forward — continue,” Watson told The LA Local. “Today, we honor that legacy and invest in the next forty years.”

For four decades, NCBW LA has been a community resource focused on health, education, economics, and public policy. Its members have worked at the intersection of philanthropy and grassroots impact throughout Los Angeles County.

The organization also leads initiatives addressing health disparities, metabolic syndrome and wellness equity in the greater LA area and regularly co-hosts community health panels. NCBW LA runs “We Vote, We Rise” campaigns to boost voter registration and organizes local candidate forums and legislative Days.

The current board of directors continues to act on behalf of Black women and girls, promoting leadership development and gender equity. The group works to bridge the wealth gap by hosting business-building seminars, such as the SisterNomic$ Summit, to guide Black women toward affordable homeownership and generational wealth.

“On Juneteenth 2026, we invite you to stand with us,” Watson said. “This is more than a day on the course. It is a celebration of freedom, a gathering of community.”
