A person was found dead after being struck by a Metrolink train near Mission Road in Boyle Heights on Thursday morning, officials said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call shortly after 9:30 a.m. and found a body near 742 Mission Road, by a westbound Metrolink train, according to Scott Johnson, communications director at Metrolink. An alert by LAFD said paramedics were dispatched to two locations before locating the victim’s body.

The train, which had nearly 280 passengers onboard at the time of the incident, was halted and passengers were transferred to a rescue train around 11 a.m., Johnson said.

All passengers on the train were assessed for injuries, but none were transported to the hospital.

The cause of death and the victim’s identity have not been released.
