Welcome to another edition of the Happenings in the Heights newsletter, your guide to weekend events in Boyle Heights and the Eastside.
The end of summer is upon us, so if you’re looking for ways to cool off or sing your heart out, we’ve got you covered.
Get your Selena tunes ready because Safari Bar in Boyle Heights is hosting its first Queer-oke night to celebrate community, self-expression and unapologetic fun. Want to take a dip and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month? Head on over to the Yosemite Pool in Eagle Rock (Please note this event has a new location.)
And if you want to get some steps in, lace up for an early-morning run at Homeboy Industries’ annual 5K starting at its Chinatown headquarters.
