It’s a big weekend in LA — Día de los Muertos celebrations are filling the Eastside, and the Dodgers’ season could be decided soon.
You could catch the game from a hilltop water tank in East LA or join a celebration of Fernando “El Toro” Valenzuela’s legacy under Robert Vargas’ mural on 1st Street.

Friday, October 31
- Los Caramelos at Eastside Luv: Boleros group Los Caramelos and Romance Nocturno will headline a special Halloween night. $10. This event is 21+ and and performances begin at 10 p.m. 1835 1st St., Los Angeles, CA 90033.
- Familiar Faces LA: Celebrate Black culture and creativity at Don Quixote. Enjoy hip-hop, afrobeat and R&B DJ sets and drinks until the morning hours. Costumes are encouraged. Tickets start at $29. 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. 2811 E. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90023.

- Celebrate the legacy of Fernando Valenzuela: Join the family of Fernando “El Toro” Valenzuela under Robert Vargas’ mural to celebrate the legendary Dodger. Come early for live music, giveaways, and other performances. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 1781 E. 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033
- Día de los Muertos Block Party: Celebrate life and honor the dead with face painting, live art, food, music, vendors, community altars, and more on 1st Street from State to Boyle. The event is free to all. 1831 1st St., Los Angeles, CA 90033.
- Día de los Muertos Noche de Poemas: Gather in community to honor those who’ve died through calavera-making and a poetry reading that celebrates love, loss and memory. Crafting starts at 4:30 p.m. 2931 E. 4th St., Los Angeles, CA 90033.
- Amor Revelado Gallery opening: Experience an intimate photographic exhibition exploring the many ways love reveals itself within Brown communities. This is a free event. 6-10 p.m. at 4024 E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave.
Sunday, November 2
- HITMKR Thanksgiving food drive: Turn music into action at the Paramount. All proceeds support Pasadena and Altadena families in need as the Thanksgiving season approaches. This is a free event and runs from 7 – 11:00 p.m. 2708 E. Cesar E. Chavez Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90033.
- Free dance workshop: Move, express, and connect through dance at Boyle Heights City Hall. Learn new styles, explore creative expression, and join a welcoming space for all levels. This is a free workshop and all experience levels are welcome. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 2130 1st St., Los Angeles, CA 90033.
