Thursday, April 3

  • Children’s Workshop: Kids are invited to Stevenson Library to earn play money and shop at the LAPL Branch, practicing their counting and social skills. Workshop starts at 4 p.m.
  • Spanish Lesson: Speak Spanish but have a hard time when it comes to reading or writing? Head to East L.A. County Library to spruce up your Spanish skills. 4 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Spanish Opera History: Join musicologist Dr. Tiffany Kuo at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes for a free history lesson of Spanish-language opera. RSVP to attend. 6 to 7 p.m.

Friday, April 4

  • Night Market: Did you know that El Mercadito has a night market? Enjoy over two dozen food and drink vendors at the iconic spot’s parking lot. 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Mexican Rock Night: Eastside Luv is hosting Los Del Momento, bringing you a night of Mexican Rock featuring special guest accordion player Ray De Los Santos Rodriguez. Free entry from 8 to 10 p.m. Happy Hour, $10 after. Event runs till closing.

Saturday, April 5

  • Community Clean-Up: Latino Equality Alliance is hosting its next clean-up at Hazard Recreation Center. RSVP to volunteer. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Milpa 101: LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is hosting a lesson on the physiology of corn, bean and squash seeds that make up the milpa system. Participants will receive a garden kit consisting of a resource book, gloves, tools and seeds. RSVP to attend. 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Photo Exhibit: Las Fotos Project is hosting an opening reception for “What Remains Between Us,” a photo exhibit highlighting personal and universal experiences surrounding terminal illness. Food and refreshments will be provided. RSVP to attend. 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Single Release: Head to 1st Street Pool & Billiards for a release show of the “haunter” single by Curvesight featuring scarypoolparty. Expect SoCal grungegaze beats. Pre-sale tickets available online for $5, $10 in person. Doors for the 18+ show open at 6 p.m.
  • Mexico City Beats: The Paramount is hosting Sonido Gallo Negro to bring psychedelic music featuring guitar strums, eccentric organs, analog synthesizers and more to keep you on your feet. $30 tickets available. Doors for the all-ages show open at 7 p.m.

Sunday, April 6

  • Artist Mercado: It’s time for the Spring artist market at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes, featuring local vendors, free workshops, fun activities and vinyl spinning. 12 to 4 p.m.
