- BHB Radio Feature: If you’re a radio geek, listen up! Catch our reporter, Andrew Lopez, live on 89.3 FM today around 2:40 p.m., as he joins our partners at LAist to break down the latest developments in local governance in East L.A.
- Financial Management: Inclusive Action is hosting a free virtual workshop focused on credit-building strategies. RSVP to attend. 6 to 7 p.m.
- Women of Impact: Proyecto Pastoral is honoring Casa 0101 founder Josefina López and Bank of America Senior Vice President Rose Ann Djelmane at its annual Women of Impact Award Reception at Studio-MLA. $100 tickets. 6 to 8 p.m.
- Hip Hop Night: Into musicals? Watch “Silhouettes of Scarlet,” a live hip hop concert experience, at The Paramount. $20 tickets open to all ages. Doors open 7 p.m.

- Wellness Clinic: Clinica Romero is hosting a wellness event at the Marengo Clinic focused on diabetes prevention and local health resources. 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Entertainment Mixer: Looking to connect with fellow actors and entertainers? Head to JIG Reel Studios in El Sereno for a mixer. $15 tickets. 7 p.m. to midnight.
- Cumbia Punk: The band Son Rompe Pera is bringing cumbia punk music to The Paramount. $35 tickets. Doors for the all ages show open 7 p.m.
Saturday, May 31
- Wilson Open House: Head to Wilson High to learn about campus programs. Enjoy performances, resource booths and more. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- City Sanitation: Join the L.A. Sanitation Department for an open house at its North Central District Yard in Lincoln Heights. Go on a facility tour, play a recycling game and grab a free lunch. The free event is open to all ages. RSVP to attend. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Songwriting Workshop: Weingart East L.A. YMCA is collaborating with the Grammy Museum to offer students a look at the music industry. Learn about careers and showcase your songwriting skills. RSVP by calling (213) 207-0090. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Music Open House: Boyle Heights Neighborhood Music School is hosting a free open house full of live music by students and faculty, games, snacks and more. 12 to 2 p.m.
- Ballet Showcase: Cal State L.A.’s Luckman Fine Arts Complex is hosting an end-of-year showcase featuring Ballet Folklórico of Esperanza College Prep. 9th graders perform at 1 p.m., 10th graders go on stage at 7 p.m. $20 tickets available for both shows.
