Chef Debbie Lee is marking Women’s History Month by bringing together five of LA’s best chefs for a one-night-only tasting menu that is not only reasonably priced but also benefits a good cause.
On March 26, Lee’s modern Korean Gastropub, Yi-Cha, in Highland Park will host “Five Women, Five Courses,” as part of the Regarding Her Women’s History Month Festival. Regarding Her is a nonprofit that has spent six years championing women-led businesses in the food and beverage industry.
Lee is the author of “Seoultown Kitchen” and a “Next Food Network Star” finalist. At Yi-Cha, she combines her North Korean heritage with influences from the American South and Los Angeles.
“Getting to share my kitchen with these four women — it’s hard to imagine a more meaningful way to mark Women’s History Month,” Lee told The LA Local.
The evening is structured with each chef contributing a single course representing their unique tastes and styles.
Chef Leah Fierro of Milkfarm opens with Andante Dairy’s Ballad and Largo cheeses. Lee follows with a hard-seared mushroom and fennel salad. Chef Leah Ferrazzani of Ferrazzani’s Pasta & Market brings stuffed shells with gochujang-spiked pomodoro. Chef Michelle Muñoz of Moo’s Craft BBQ contributes Texas-style smoked pork belly. Chef Valerie Gordon of Valerie Confections closes with a shoyu caramel mochi cake.
“This is a true five-course collaboration,” Lee said. “Each chef is bringing a dish that’s entirely their own, so guests will get to experience five very distinct culinary voices in one evening.”
All proceeds benefit the Downtown Women’s Center, which is dedicated to ending homelessness for women in Los Angeles. Reservations are required, starting at $95 per person.
