The space-age Raising Cane’s flagship store that has been under construction near SoFi Stadium in Inglewood officially opened on Friday.

There was already a line outside the chicken finger shop early Friday morning, with SoFi Stadium hosting the US men’s national team’s first match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup later that night.

Located at 3895 W Century Blvd., the chicken finger shop is just a few minutes walk from Intuit Dome and SoFi Stadium.

The store is two stories tall, not including its basement kitchen, and crowned with a stadium-inspired halo of metal and LED screens. In a press release, Raising Cane’s said the restaurant is its first flagship in California.

The chicken chain did not specify an opening date, but US soccer legend Landon Donovan visited the nearly-completed restaurant for a preview on Tuesday. At the same time of and walking distance from the Cane’s preview event on Tuesday, SoFi stadium workers announced a strike was averted after their union reached a tentative labor deal.

A Southern California native, Donovan recalled visiting the Forum as a kid for hockey and basketball games. He said the city has changed from what he remembers.

“It’s really special for me to see it. It’s a nostalgic piece for me,” Donovan said. “Just being candid, early in my life it was like ‘Oh Inglewood, be careful, stay away.’ Now it’s become this incredible city.”

The new Raising Cane’s is part of an ongoing spate of new construction in Inglewood, centered on the city’s stadiums.

That development has meant changes for food options in Inglewood. Grocery store Food 4 Less shuttered in March, though grocery store Sprouts is set to open at 8451 Crenshaw Blvd. at the end of the month, according to the chain’s website.

Chick-fil-A, another purveyor of fried chicken sandwiches, is moving toward construction of its own restaurant at 3003 Century Blvd. after getting approval from the Inglewood Planning Commission in May.

My background: I spent my early years in downtown Los Angeles and lived the last decade between Pico Union and University Park. I’ve covered immigration, religion, housing, local government and a little bit of everything else for outlets in Los Angeles and beyond.

What I do: I keep an eye on local institutions — like city governments, police departments and school boards — and an ear to the ground for the good, the bad and the weird things going on in South LA and Inglewood. I tell you what I find out on our website, in our newsletter and on social media.
