Thursday, March 27

  • Building Block Club: Got kids? Bring them to Stevenson Branch Library to show off their creativity with building blocks – all while making friends. Meeting starts at 4 p.m.
  • Spring Mixer: The Boyle Heights Chamber of Commerce invites you to a mixer at Esquina Bicycle Shop. Enjoy networking, community building and more from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
  • Poetry Night: LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes is hosting the Macondo Writers for a 30-year celebration. Listen to readings while enjoying refreshments and snacks. 6 – 9 p.m.

Friday, March 28

  • Food Distribution: L.A. General Medical Center is hosting a food distribution. Patients and residents welcome from 9 to 10:30 a.m. and employees from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
  • Jimmy Gomez Town Hall: Join California’s District 34 Representative in El Sereno for discussion on Social Security. RSVP to attend and receive event location. 11 a.m.
  • Spoken Word: Enjoy an evening of CantoMundo spoken word at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. It’s a celebration of the worlds of songs in the Latino diaspora. 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Rock Show: Claudio Narea of Los Prisioneros and Luis Bolín of La Unión are taking the stage at Don Quixote for a night of Spanish Rock and New Wave beats. Tickets for the 18+ event are available for $60-90. Doors open at 8 p.m.
  • Film Showing: Libros Schmibros is hosting a free screening of “amores perros” in celebration of the movie’s 25th anniversary. L.A. Times film critic Carlos Aguilar will join in for a discussion. The event starts right at 8 p.m.

Saturday, March 29

  • Cartoons & Cereal: Calling all aspiring artists – and cartoon enjoyers. Learn to draw and collage while watching Pink Panther. All-ages workshop runs from 9 to 11 a.m. 
  • City Terrace Clean-Up: Vision City Terrace is hosting a community clean-up. All needed materials will be provided. Meet at City Terrace Library to start. 9 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Know Your Rights: The Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory is hosting a creative art workshop where you’ll get to make protest art while learning about immigration rights. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. RSVP by calling (213) 293-6170 or emailing PC1@BHARTS.ORG.
  • Anthology Reading: Head to LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes for a celebration of Somos Xicanas’ publication amplifying trailblazers and emerging voices alike. 2 to 5 p.m. 
  • Cabaret Night: It’s going to be a night out of punk rock burlesque at Eastside Luv. Features DJ Rick Barzell and Midnight Burlesque in celebration of artist Willy Boy’s birthday. Free admission from 8 to 10 p.m. Happy Hour, $15 entry after. 21+ night runs through 2 a.m. 
  • Indie Show: Don Quixote is hosting 1tbsp, an indie-house project from Australian Grammy Nominated artist Maxwell Bryne. $35-42 tickets. Doors open at 9 p.m. 18+ show.

Sunday, March 30

  • Celebrating Boyle Heights: The Homestead Museum in the City of Industry is hosting a commemoration of Boyle Heights’ 150th anniversary. Learn about the neighborhood’s history, and connect with fellow residents. RSVP to attend. 2 – 3:30 p.m.
  • East Los Mania II: Get the Lucha Libre experience in Boyle Heights. Don Quixote is hosting East Los Mania, a night of live wrestling, amazing drinks and more to enjoy. Tickets available for $30-70. Doors for the all-ages show open at 4:30 p.m.
