The Los Angeles Police Department announced on Thursday the arrest of a woman in connection with the deadly Hyde Park hit-and-run that killed 16-year-old Hernan Martinez.

Police identified the woman as Raygine Glentasia Evans, 28. The LA Local reached out to the LAPD about whether Evans had been charged, but did not receive a response.

Eliseo Martinez, Hernan’s older brother, said Evans’ arrest has provided the family with relief, helping to calm the immense anger he’s been experiencing over the past several weeks.

“I feel like he’ll rest easier knowing that the person who took his life isn’t out here terrorizing people anymore,” Martinez said.

The latest update comes after Hernan was killed while crossing the street near the intersection of 60th Street and 10th Avenue on Sept. 22, according to police. The driver and passengers fled before police arrived, leaving behind a devastating scene, witnesses said.

Hernan died at the scene while his sister was severely injured, according to police.
