Taste of Soul is returning to Crenshaw Boulevard on Saturday.
Nearly 3 miles of the iconic boulevard will be closed off to cars, allowing festival goers a chance to enjoy live music, food, culture and community resources.
Entry is free and no prior RSVP is required.
Here’s what you need to know if you plan to attend Saturday:
When and where does Taste of Soul take place?
The festival will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
It will run along Crenshaw Boulevard from Obama Boulevard to Stocker Street.
Where can I park and how can I get to the festival?
Festival organizers recommend beating traffic by taking public transportation at least part of the way. Attendees can park at or near several Metro stations and take the train or bus the rest of the way.
Train stops near the festival are Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Leimart Park on the K line or the Exposition and Crenshaw boulevards stop on the K and E lines.
The festival is also offering several shuttles from four different pickup locations throughout the day, including Dorsey High School, Bethany Baptist Church of West Los Angeles, Tom Bradley Global Awareness Magnet school and Crenshaw High School.
You can find transportation information here.
Is the festival family friendly?
Yes!
The festival is partnering with the nonprofit St. John’s Community Health to offer a family carnival called “Children’s World.” This section of the festival will provide families with interactive activities and educational games for kids of varying ages and needs.
You can read more about Children’s World here.
Will there be food?
More than 100 food vendors will be present at the festival. From soul food to barbecue, there will be plenty of food options to choose from.
What community resources are available?
Aside from food and entertainment, festival goers can also access community health resources from St. John’s Community Health, including onsite health screenings and physicals as well as insurance enrollment support.
