Sections of the 10 and 110 freeways are set to get a makeover thanks to a collaboration between Caltrans and Metro.

The L.A. Metro Net Toll Revenue Project aims to improve the visual appeal of eight locations, including three in Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles. The upgrades will include new paving, drought-tolerant plants and safety improvements.

Eastside areas set to receive improvements include the I-10 and 5 freeway interchange in Boyle Heights, the I-10 at Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and the I-10 and 710 freeway interchange.

Construction is expected to begin summer 2026, with completion projected for  spring 2030. The total cost for the project is estimated at $14.5 million.

The collaborative effort will be funded by toll revenue from Metro ExpressLanes.

Caltrans will host a public workshop about the project for those who want to learn more or provide input. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Nakaoka Community Center.
