News for Angelenos, by Angelenos.
In a region as vibrant as Los Angeles, it’s easy to feel disconnected. The LA Local is here to change that. We’re a nonprofit news organization that puts community at the heart of everything we do.
Your neighborhood, our LA.
Our ethics and standards
We believe all Angelenos deserve useful news and information that inspires and equips them to thrive in their daily lives. Our work meets high journalism standards, is independent, and nonpartisan.
Always Free. Always Local.
Our journalism is guided by three core principles:
Community-first
We center the needs of local neighborhoods, with an ultimate goal to strengthen communities and make LA work better for Angelenos. Journalism should be focused on serving people most affected by the stories, both inspiring and equipping them to take action.
Equity & Inclusion
We need local news that reflects the beauty, joy and authenticity of people of Los Angeles. Newsrooms should be mirrors of the communities they cover, share stories centered on community perspectives and be useful tools that inform and drive community action.
Trust
We believe that building trust must be a core principle of any storytelling. The journalism we provide will be accurate, independent, unbiased nonpartisan and a trusted source of news.
