Inglewood has seen its share of changes in the past five years with renovated stadiums, shopping centers and also most recently the new Raising Cane’s, which sparked conversation in the community.

As a Cane’s fan myself, I often enjoy its menu, but I want to highlight some of my favorite spots in Inglewood that have been serving the community for many years that also know their way around a chicken dish.

These five spots offer chicken in all forms  — from tenders and BBQ plates to fajitas and vegan alternatives.

Mr Fries Man

401 E Hillcrest Blvd.

Mr Fries Man is famous for its loaded fries and for its unique way of serving chicken strips. These are not your average strips served with ranch on the side. There’s a wide variety of sauces that they can cook your tender in such as: lemon cajun, lemon garlic parmesan, mango habanero, buffalo lemon pepper and other sauce options. They also offer jalapeño ranch dip that you can dunk those delicious tenders into.

Don’t skip the loaded “BBQ Bacon Ranch Chicken Fries,” either. This plate starts off with a bed of seasoned fries topped with your choice of grilled or fried chicken, barbecue and ranch sauce, cheddar cheese and bacon bits.

Vegainz LA

701 S La Brea Ave.

For my vegans or people like myself who just simply enjoy delicious vegan meals, Vegainz LA has an extensive menu of fresh alkaline-based food and offers vegan “chicken” tenders referred to on the menu as “Krispy Shicken Tenders.” The move here is to get the plant-based tenders paired with the “Loaded Alkaline Mac and Cheese.” They also have great wraps and a phenomenal “Krispy Shicken Sandwich.”

The Wood

129 N Market St.

The Wood BBQ & Sportsbar is located minutes from the entertainment district. The restaurant offers a live DJ, daily happy hour food and drink specials, and broadcasts sporting events like the World Cup matches. This is a barbecue restaurant first and foremost.

The Wood offers a mix of chicken appetizers and main courses. For appetizers, start off with wings coated in your choice of BBQ, mango habanero, lemon pepper, or buffalo sauce. Next, try their barbecue chicken sliders. Lastly, for your main entree, try the two-item plate with barbecue chicken and chicken links.

Martin’s Cantina

162 N La Brea Ave.

Martin’s Cocina y Cantina is the spot to be in Inglewood before a big night at the stadiums, whether you’re headed to a concert, game or comedy show. You will find they also have great happy hour specials offered throughout the week.

This Mexican cocina offers an extensive list of chicken-based items from appetizers to main courses. But the move here is to start off with their chicken taquitos, chicken tortilla soup or their chicken taco that you can find for $2 on Taco Tuesday. Next, you’re going to want to turn up the heat and flavor with Martin’s sizzling chicken fajitas that come with a side of tortillas and rice and beans.

Country Style Jamaican Restaurant

630 N La Brea Ave.

Country Style Jamaican Restaurant is the perfect takeout spot serving traditional Jamaican plates. Start off with a crispy golden curry chicken patty. Then try the delicious brown stew chicken, jerk chicken, curry chicken or fried chicken. Pro tip, you can order these chicken plates as a “mini meal,”  priced at $9, for a perfect lunch sized portion with an even better price.
